WWE Extreme Rules 2014: Evolution Must Pass the Torch to the Shield

Once upon a time, there was a group of powerful men who had it all in the WWE.
They called all the shots, acted like they owned the place and even managed to capture a piece of championship gold for each member.
They were called Evolution.
Triple H, Randy Orton, Batista and Ric Flair were on top of the world, and those who dared to defy them often found themselves at the receiving end of one or three of the group's patented finishers.
For a long time they reigned, unchallenged, until the seed of dissension was planted from within.
The moment Randy Orton captured the World Heavyweight title from Chris Benoit, his fate was sealed.
Evolution was all about Triple H's dominance and the rest of them were there purely to enforce his evil rule upon the WWE.
Time passed.
Today, a new force has risen. A power that seems to come from the people.
It goes by The Shield.

Since their arrival, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and United States champion Dean Ambrose have been on a rocket ride to success and nothing appears to be able to halt their momentum.
Earlier this year, it seemed as if they too would go their separate ways. However, there is greater power in standing united as one, so the hounds of justice quickly dispelled all negative energy, rebooted and turned to the light.
Being enforcers of justice, however, has its price.
The Shield managed to capture the power of the people, but also Triple H's ire, as he did all he could to prevent Daniel Bryan's rise to fame and glory.
Now, the corporate prince of the WWE has rallied his former acolytesand reformed Evolution to counter the sudden rise of younger talent.
This version of the group would be more aptly dubbed "Evilution," for its members each have their own agendas and none seem to ooze out positive energy.
What Triple H and company don't realize, though, is that the very nature of evolution is to move forward, adapt and change for the better.
The Shield is quickly becoming this new and improved version, yet with a way more popular side. This momentum cannot be stopped or undone once released and no amount of plotting will change that.
A clash was inevitable from the beginning, and at Extreme Rules, Evolution will meet its match and be humbled.
It must pass the torch so the future can carry on as it should.
You cannot be at the top forever, and resisting change only makes you appear desperate and open to mistakes.
Triple H must let go and govern the WWE behind the scenes. Randy Orton should just embrace the fact that his character is unique and that people cheer for him whether he is a villain or a hero. For Batista, the unfortunate thing about him is his return came at the worst possible time.

Daniel Bryan's rise took the company to new places and the people commanded it so. Batista was just caught in the middle of that.
It's as if the fans hate him just because he is in the way.
Is it also possible that big men packing the muscle like Batista are being tossed aside for a smaller, more daredevil breed of performers?
Rollins and Ambrose certainly fit well into that category.
The Shield is a brilliant unit packed with speed, power and charisma. It is the future of this business, together and as separate entities.
Despite all of its efforts, Evolution will discover this at the pay-per-view on Sunday night.
This match will definitely be one to tune in to, as it will be filled with action.
There should also be a pinch of dissension and betrayal in there as well. Evolution will fall prey to its old enemyegoonce more and its fate will be sealed. This time, forever.
Extreme Rules will end on a positive note and evolution will continue its course smoothly.
The Shield is here, ladies and gentlemen, united and strong.
Believe in the hounds of justice, the new bearers of the torch.
Believe in The Shield.
